How To Take Antipyretics

The current drugs are all symptomatic and supportive drugs. They do not directly treat the new crown, but only relieve symptoms. Patients or people infected with the new crown should not overdose. Many medicines go too far. The virus is a self-limiting disease that resolves itself in a week or so without special intervention.
Generally speaking, antipyretics can be taken if the body temperature exceeds 38.5°C. If it is between 37.5°C and 38.5°C, physical cooling is recommended, such as using antipyretic patches, warm water baths, etc.
The elderly and children can also take antipyretics if their body temperature does not exceed 38.5°C but they appear listless.
Antipyretic drugs are generally taken once every 4-6 hours, not more than 4 times a day. After taking antipyretic drugs for 3 days, if the symptoms are not relieved, seek medical treatment in time.
What is the difference between ibuprofen and acetaminophen?
Ibuprofen is a commonly used antipyretic drug. Representative drugs on the market include Merrill Lynch and Ibuprofen capsules. Ibuprofen is not recommended for infants younger than 6 months, because children under 6 months of age have relatively weak renal function, and the risk of nephrotoxicity may increase when using ibuprofen.
Acetaminophen is a relatively safe antipyretic drug. The representative drugs currently on the market are Tylenol, (for children) Baifulan, etc. Its antipyretic effect is directly proportional to the dose, and excessive dose can cause liver toxicity, so it is not recommended for infants younger than 3 months.
①Onset time: ibuprofen takes effect in about 1 hour, and acetaminophen takes effect in half an hour to 1 hour;
②Duration of action: 6-8 hours for ibuprofen, 4-6 hours for acetaminophen;
③ Applicable age: ibuprofen is suitable for children and adults over 6 months old, and acetaminophen is generally used for people over 2 months old;
④ Route of administration: Ibuprofen can be taken orally, suppository, or intravenously, and acetaminophen is generally used for oral administration and suppository.
* Pregnant women, infants and young children, please follow the doctor's advice.
Compared with acetaminophen, ibuprofen has a slightly longer antipyretic effect and duration of action, and has a more obvious antipyretic effect, so it is more suitable for high fever caused by infectious diseases.
Can Ibuprofen and Lianhua Qingwen be taken together?
Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.
Lianhua Qingwen Chengfang can be used for fever, cough, fatigue, etc. caused by influenza or mild/common new coronary pneumonia.
Both medicines reduce fever, so usually only one of them needs to be taken.
For example, if you have a low-grade fever, accompanied by cough and other respiratory symptoms, you can choose Lianhua Qingwen.
However, it should be noted that Lianhua Qingwen is suitable for wind-heat cold. If you have fever with chills, or other symptoms of wind-cold cold, you should not choose Lianhua Qingwen. In addition, there is an ingredient in Lianhua Qingwen called "rhubarb", which has a purging effect. If you have a fever accompanied by diarrhea symptoms, using Lianhua Qingwen may aggravate gastrointestinal reactions.
If the fever exceeds 38.5°C, or there are obvious muscle soreness, fatigue and other uncomfortable conditions in the limbs, it is recommended that antipyretic and analgesic drugs such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen be the first choice.
